March 12, 2025
Hello friends,
Happy almost spring! In these chaotic times I find myself turning toward community as a way of taking action. The power of our cooperative is all of us together, working to make change. We are gearing up for a busy spring and summer. Check out the events below!
March Co-op Circle
Co-op Circles is an every other month gathering of our fellow cooperators in Greater Cleveland. For March, the topic is Resist and Build. Why this topic now?
The Co-op Circles collective believes that co-ops and solidarity economy groups have a powerful response to the rising authoritarianism of our country. Cooperatives been resisting these systems of domination and building an egalitarian, equitable world in the shell of the old long before the current crisis.
On March 20th, from 6 - 8 pm at Neighborhood Leadership Institute (5246 Broadway Ave), Cleveland co-ops, solidarity economy groups and people who support the work of building economic democracy will gather to co-create a strategy in response to this moment.
There will be food, check-ins from leading Cleveland co-ops (including our cooperative!), and a chance for each person in our movement to add their skills and talents to resisting authoritarianism and building the solidarity economy in Cleveland and beyond. Everyone who is excited to build resistance is welcome, even if you haven't been to previous co-op circle!

Spring Events
May Member-Owner Meeting
Our Annual Member-Owner is one of the most important meetings for our cooperative. It is where member-owners come together to make key decisions and set the direction of our cooperative.
We have two open board seats this year! If you are someone you know is interested in running - please reach out to me. We'll send out a formal nomination form ahead of the meeting.
Mark your calendars - this year's meeting will be on Saturday May 31st from 1-3pm. Location TBD!
Solar School
This June we are kicking off the first session of Solar School. Co-facilitated by member-owners Craig Ickler and Ayat Amin, Solar School is a six week, hands-on cooperative learning course that covers the current political landscape for solar development in Ohio, where and how to evaluate what places are best for solar, how to work with property and building owners to build solar, and what goes into financing a solar array.
Launch is Mid-June 2025 - Exact date and time to be determined!
If you interested fill out this interest form.
East Cleveland Solar Round Table
The transition away from fossil fuels is an opportunity to upend our extractive energy system. Going solar can move money away from big investor-owned utilities and back into the pockets of our communities. We've partnered with our friends at Solar United Neighbors and Living Truth Center for the third East Cleveland Solar Round Table. These are a great chance to learn how East Clevelanders can go solar and be part of this transition!

Galentine's Day Report Back
It was great seeing everyone last month at Unbar. We had some great conversations, especially from Sherri Green who shared her passion for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community. The power of cooperation is the diverse passions and experiences we all bring to the table! Sherri's nonprofit helps individuals who are deaf/hard of hearing access community programs by ensuring there are well-qualified American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters at the events.
Learn more about their work here.
